Well here I am, safe in St Kilda (if that’s possible). It was an amazing time at Targetbase Integrated. I learned so much over the years, with a slightly frantic redemption conclusion, that almost ended in tears.

You could say, I’m now a data nerd (but I prefer to funkify that title and claim I’m data savvy). Ask me to analyse/clean/filter/stream any data file and I will amaze you with my prowess. I am a list broker’s worst nightmare... or maybe just Kirstin’s (Prime Prospects).

DM was such an enjoyable and challenging part of my role at Targetbase. I thank Nick for allowing me to pick his brain on many occasions. With our talent combined and the complimentary expertise from Dulux’s Trade Marketing Duo – Tony and Slawek, we worked “better together”, to ensure our projects were always professionally painted.

I did learn however, it is possible to become incontinent over DM. Tracey (Evergreen) I have you to thank for that!

Travel and shopping are special privileges granted to only the most intrinsic team member (or to whom has experience in events/project management). I found myself shopping online for hundreds of rewards/prizes, and travelling to Broome and South Africa for the Lenovo Legends sales incentive program. Tania, thank you for entrusting me with these projects. I hope I exceeded your expectations, as the experience working on them exceeded mine! (Ask me about the Lions!) And, Lale thanks for taking over these projects even though, it really is more work than pleasure!

It was certainly a sad farewell to all the team at Targetbase Integrated. I will miss you all very much but especially a certain few.

So with a few days of rest, I ventured across the Yarra to "the other side", and landed last Monday here, at The Engine Room.

With many new projects on the go, it is quite a busy time! But before getting into work, Garth took the liberty of showing me the St Kilda sites – basically, where I should be seen eating and where I should not stand. Nevertheless, he also politely advised that where I stood, was totally up to me and should I need the extra cash...

The Engine Room

So what’s the go I hear you say? Who or what is The Engine Room?

The Engine Room is a team of young, talented design (hate to say it guys) geeks, programming boffins and animators. They have their finger on the pulse of graphic design, new media, gaming, motion graphics, e-commerce, content management systems, and SEO.

I have been brought in, like a secret service agent, to make some noise for this talented crew and head-up some of the hot new projects the team have had in the wings, such as:

Webkit

The guys have been working hard designing their own broadcast email distribution engine. It combines cutting edge technology with creative templates and tools to manage targeted, trackable online campaigns.

Still in the development stages but once finished, Webkit will feature: broadcast email engine, newsletter templates, reporting and data capture functionality, database with mailing list segmentation, search engine optimisation (SEO) hints and tips, tracking and reporting. (Carlo, Jun & Beck I can see you chomping to get your hands on this one!)

Mobile Marketing

If picture speaks 1000 words, then what can a video say about you?

Mobile marketing is relatively new to marketing, but is increasingly integrating into marketing and advertising strategies and campaigns (such as current Optus campaign http://www.dancedare.com.au/ ). The Engine Room, unhappy with the mobile marketing providers on the market, have developed their own SMS/MMS engine It is everything you want in a SMS broadcast engine and more. It has the capability to convert phone videos (3GP) file into a web video format and upload it to a website instantly!

Without further adieu, you should check out all that The Engine Room has to offer. You never know, this could be the start of something fabulous!

If you want to interact with us more, check out our bloggy site www.engineroomonline.com. This site allows us to keep you 100% up to date with the glut of new work that’s on the launch pad.

The ER

Enjoy reading my dribble, then read Garths. He has so cleverly put together The ER edition 1 – The Engine Room Newsletter that will pop into your inbox every 4-6 weeks. This is the first ever edition and each one will feature what we’ve been up to, hot gossip, trends and whatever we think you might want to read.

Because I’m the marketer, and I know the importance of a database, you have all been automatically added to The ER distribution for future editions. However if you do not wish to read our sweet waffle, just click on the Opt Out link in your email and I will politely remove you (but don’t expect to receive a Christmas or Birthday card!).

There is loads of exciting things on the go! But remember, if it has a confusing acronym, goes on a screen, printed on a page, or even if it needs to be invented, The Engine Room team can develop the solution you’re after.

M x
